2010 Employee of the Month

Busted! – January 2010

Busted for good customer service!

Top Dog Elise Lindborg innocently delivered some embroidered polo’s for the City of Seattle Marshals and ended up in a holding cell! Elise loves the Marshals and she will always show them respect. WOOF!

2009 Sales Person of the Year! – April 2010

Congratulations Kelli - 2009 Sales Person of the Year!!

Congratulations to Kelli Henderson (Chili Dog) for winning the coveted title of Sales Person of the Year.

Sue (Diggity Dog) and Elise (Top Dog) present the award to Kelli. When accepting the award, she said “I couldn’t have done it without the support of the entire pack! I would like to thank, of course the academy, Ginger and Jagger for laying around my desk and startling me awake on late nights when they heard a sound, Sue for being such stellar support and a spell check maven, Stephanie for rigging the books to make it look like I had bigger sales than I did, and Elise for… well, everything. ~WOOF!”

Fur Child – May 2010

Never pick up a Schipperkee while he is blowing his coat. What a mess!

Kelli Henderson is our employee of the month for the 2nd time! This photo was snapped after picking up and petting Jagger – (aka our office paper shredder). To Kelli’s surprise – he left a pile of fur on her fleece jacket as thick as a 70’s shag rug. Check out Jagger by following this link:
Jagger aka: Bubba

Elise Takes a Tumble – June 2010

Best wipe out after tripping on a dog toy!

Too busy to vote for the employee of the month, so we decided to bring back a classic!

Original Date – October 2009.
Elise Lindborg is our employee of the month for the most incredible wipe out after tripping on one of Jaggers dog toys. Great photo opportunity as she could not get up before we snapped this shot. Way to go Elise – ballet should be your next sport!

Elise Tries out a New Career – Mascot! – July 2010

Who is that Meerkat?

Top Dog Elise Lindborg was asked by the Woodland Park Zoo if she would wear a Meerkat costume and play Doppler in a game of basketball at one of the most recent WNBA Seattle Storm’s home games. Seeking an opportunity to tackle Doppler (the Seattle Storm’s official mascot) – Elise accepted the challenge. After just 30 seconds in the costume and lacking any visability – Elise nearly passed out from the heat and only had the opportunity for one “Hail Mary” shot. Unfortunately Elise did not tackle Doppler – perhaps next time.

Kelli Henderson – August 2010

Turn down the music next time, you might hear the boxes rolling across the top of the car!

In celebration of ZippyDogs 10th Anniversary, we thought it would be fun to bring back a few customer favorites!

February 2008 Employee of the Month!

Kelli deserves to be employee of the month because she has a tendency to leave items on top of the car. This time she raced out of the parking lot and forgot that all our outgoing mail was in a box on top of the car. Needless to say because of her speed, the mail flew off the car and onto the road. She did not notice until she reached to post office. With her tail tucked, she came back to gather all the mail out of the roadway and successfully delivered it to the post office.

Kristi insists on safety first – September 2010

No safety violations, Kristi is a good dog!

While cleaning the storage area, we found 3 large boxes of our plush Zippy Dogs! We even found a box of the coveted lime green dogs that we thought we had none! Our friend Kristi was freeing them from their plastic poly-bags – the dogs gotta breath you know! She must have thought the dogs were going to come out biting.

Remember to unplug the Electric Car! – November 2010

Kelli Henderson - Oopsie.

Kelli Henderson has once again earned the coveted title of Employee of the Month. Kelli was in a hurry, forgot to unplug the car and drove 4 blocks with a 30′ extension cord flying behind her. Not only did she forget to unplug the extension cord but she managed to wrap the extension cord around the tire of our neighbors super expensive, fancy car – the Lotus. Thank goodness there was no damage to the Lotus – unfortunately the Zenn needed a visit to the repair shop.

2009 Employee of the Month

Top Dog – March 2009

Just call her angel of the morning!

Elise Lindborg is our March Employee of the Month because not only did she say “rabbit rabbit, white rabbit” at 1 a.m. on March 1st but because of her stellar morning hair. This photo was snapped during a recent chat with the Chili dog. March is going to be a great month.

Kelli – April 2009

Gesundheit!

Kelli wins employee of the month for breaking the office record (maybe the world record) for the most consecutive sneezes. On April 3, Kelli had a sneezing fit that lasted slightly more than 30 minutes. When she finally stopped, she couldnt talk (raw throat), her eyes were watering and she may have thrown her back out.

So we have decided to share a little information about sneezes! Enjoy!

Many people have become accustomed to saying “bless you” or “gesundheit” when someone sneezes. No one says anything when someone coughs, blows their nose or burps, so why do sneezes get special treatment? What do those phrases actually mean, anyway?

Wishing someone well after they sneeze probably originated thousands of years ago. The Romans would say “Jupiter preserve you” or “Salve,” which meant “good health to you,” and the Greeks would wish each other “long life.” The phrase “God bless you” is attributed to Pope Gregory the Great, who uttered it in the sixth century during a bubonic plague epidemic (sneezing is an obvious symptom of one form of the plague).

The exchangeable term “gesundheit” comes from Germany, and it literally means “health.” The idea is that a sneeze typically precedes illness. It entered the English language in the early part of the 20th century, brought to the United States by German-speaking immigrants.

Virtually every country around the globe has its own way of wishing sneezers well. People in Arabic countries say, “Alhamdulillah,” which means, “praise be to God.” Hindus say, “Live!” or “Live well!” Some countries have special sneezing responses for children. In Russia, after children are given the traditional response, “bud zdorov” (“be healthy”), they are also told “rosti bolshoi” (“grow big”). When a child sneezes in China, he or she will hear “bai sui,” which means, “may you live 100 years.”

For the most part, the various sneeze responses originated from ancient superstitions. Some people believed that a sneeze causes the soul to escape the body through the nose. Saying “bless you” would stop the devil from claiming the person’s freed soul. Others believed the opposite: that evil spirits use the sneeze as an opportunity to enter a person’s body. There was also the misconception that the heart momentarily stops during a sneeze (it doesn’t), and that saying “bless you” was a way of welcoming the person back to life.

Sue – May 2009

Wowza!!

Sue kicked organizing booty last month! We have boxes and shelves full of ZippyDogs give-away items. Over the course of time our Zippy Gear area started looking like a tornado went through it. Sue cleaned, organized, and labeled boxes. Now we know what is where! She did the same thing with all our tradeshow boxes! AND then she generated all the shipping labels and packing slips for over 25 back ordered Ciggy Buttz costumes. This has worn me out just writing about it. Thanks Sue!!

What is a Ciggy Buttz costume you ask?

Small Dog – Lily – July 2009

“Rejected or Respected”

At ZippyDogs we don’t like to hand out our Zippy plush dogs inside plastic bags; what fun is that? But this year each dog came to us in sealed polybags – ick!

Lily, the self-titled “Small Dog” has been freeing the Zippy dogs for us! Literally, bustem’ them out of their polybags and then quality checking each one to insure they have all their arms, legs and eyes and in the right spot.

As our Quality Control Agent, she coined the phrase “Rejected or Respected” and we are happy to say in this go round, no dogs were rejected. So far the hard working Lily has freed approximately 1,500 purple and blue dogs from bags.

Lily may look young but she is actually 63 years old (in dog years).

Sue – Celebrates 1 Year as Diggity Dog – August 2009

We all said woof to Korean BBQ day!

June 10th marked Diggity Dog’s first anniversary as a member of the ZippyDogs pack. As per industry standard, the bosses scheduled a review, but Diggity decided she wanted to do something additional, and a little different: she wanted to thank Kelli and Elise for a really great year full of good times and growth.

So, Chef Diggity invited them to a Korean BBQ that she prepared, grilled and served! There was kalbi (short ribs marinated in the yummiest sauce ever), rice and half a dozen different kinds of kimchi, ranging from cabbage to turnip to tofu. Yum! It was a fun way to commemorate a great event.

Happy Anniversary!

2008 Employee of the Month

Dogged Perseverance! – March 2008

Gone Fishin'

The March employee of the month goes to Elise Lindborg. Somehow while on vacation during the last week in February – Elise managed to get the first sale of the month in March. She sold 300 pocket ash trays to the University of North Carolina Health Care in Chapel Hill. You go girl! We love your aggressive sales tactics and stick-to-it-ive-ness. Kelli was on that same vacation and she only sold 2 embroidered beanies for $30. What is up with that?

YAY – look at me I successfully transfered a call! – April 2008

Phone Transfer Queen

In April of 2008 ZippyDogs invested in a professional phone system. After a few hours of phone training, Kelli was the first person in the office to successfully transfer a call without hanging up on the customer. Kelli is the April Employee of the Month and phone transfer queen. WOOF!

Working Like a Dog! – June 2008

Go dogs go!

Ginger and her little “bother” – Jagger deserve to be our employees of the month because they have learned to take the meaning of “break” to a whole new level.

She tamed the monkey on our back! – July 2008

Mail Chimp Diva

Sue is the July Employee of the Month because she took a project that was sitting on our desk for 6 months and turned it into a work of art. Sue put together our very first electionic newsletter through the ultra cool Mail Chimp application. The Fire Hydrant Times, a bi-monthly Pee Mail newsletter hit our customers in-boxes at approximately 1:34 p.m. on July 16, 2008. Sue is an electronic newsletter diva!

Our IT Department Rocks! – September 2008

Kelli Henderson is our Information Technology rock star!

Chili Dog Kelli took a day and installed new versions of Adobe Illustrator, QuickBooks and loaded over 1000 fonts on our computers. She was so pleased with her work that she danced a big happy dance in the office, hollered loud enough to startle the electrician next door and almost twisted her ankle while wearing unsupportive crocs.

Stephanie – Bookkeeping Queen – December 2008

Busted for doing a great job!

Our stellar bookkeeper Stephanie deserves to be employee of the month because we finally snapped a photo of her without her hand hiding her face! Besides that – she is quick, efficient, smart and queen of our numbers. Three woofs to Stephanie. WOOF! WOOF! WOOF!

2007 Employee of the Month

Whitney – January 2007
Lil Whit
Whitney is our January employee of the month because of her amazing hair color. In addition, she graced us with her presence in December and helped us get our holiday cards out before the end of the year. Whitney gave us a total of 6 hours, 13 minutes and 4 seconds of her time in 2006. She did not suffer any paper cuts. Go Whitney!

Maureen – February 2007
Our Bookkeeper
Maureen was chosen as our February employee of the month because she looks fantastic in wet boxers and pink wading boots. In addition, she and her husband were forced out of their new home by rising flood waters in December. They went to the local Red Cross for shelter but were rejected because they had an old dog. Maureen, husband and dog tramped around in the mud and water until a friend took them in at 4 a.m. For this – Maureen deserves to be our employee of the month. Yea Maureen!

Elise – March 2007
A little coffee with that cream?
Elise is the March Employee of the Month because we captured this extremely flattering photo of her last week.

She has a cold, is cranky and hasn’t combed her hair. Yet she still manages to make it to work by 10 a.m. everyday. Now this is dedication and loyalty.

Congratulations Elise!

2006 Employee of the Month
